Make the Most of your iPhone's Motion Sensors with the MyControlApp

Your iPhone has a number of cool features, many of which can help you in your day-to-day. However, the iPhone’s motion controls can be used for more than just waking up your screen and playing games. For those with hearing loss, the motion sensors can be used to make your hearing experience more dynamic and fulfilling. Once you’ve paired your iPhone with your hearing aids, you can adjust your settings and begin listening.

The myControlApp is the hub for all of your hearing aid settings. You can adjust your preferences, toggle the volume, and even begin streaming audio and television programs in high-quality stereo sound. For more dynamic hearing, simply allow the myControlApp to access motion sensors. Once this setting is enabled, your iPhone and Signia hearing aids work together to give you a more true-to-life hearing experience.

Downloading the myControlApp

Before you can begin using the motion sensors, you need to download the MyControlApp. Our step-by-step video can show you how this is done, and what to do afterwards. The app is easily found in the Apple app store, and you can begin using it immediately after downloading. From here, you can begin toggling your settings and syncing your hearing aids to your phone. This connection is done via Bluetooth, so make sure you have that function enabled on your phone.

It’s also important that the myControlApp has access to your phone’s motion sensors. Our app would never sync to your phone without permission, so you will be asked to grant the app access to your phone’s location and motion detection software. If you change your mind about this decision afterwards, you can undo this function. After you’ve allowed access and accepted the Terms of Use, you can move on and finish setup.

Syncing your Hearing Aids and the myControlApp

If you’ve never paired your hearing aids to your iPhone before, you might need to do this next. Like before, the step-by-step video can give you a more visual walkthrough of this process. To successfully pair your phone and hearing aids, it’s important that they’re charged and active first. Make sure they’re nearby and don’t move too far from your phone during this process.

Apple iPhones have special settings for hearing aid users, so you should open this next. Under the “General”, you can find “Accessibility” settings. Here you will find “Hearing Aid” settings. Turn on Bluetooth, and allow your hearing aids to sync with your phone. Once this is done, a checkmark will appear. This means your hearing aids are paired with your phone, and you can begin listening.

Experiencing Dynamic Listening Situations

By using the iPhone motion sensors, Signia hearing aids are more accurate when it comes to processing sound while the hearing aid wearer is moving. Users can better differentiate where sound is coming from. This feature is important as it can alert the wearer to an approaching car before they might have even had a chance to see it, for example. It can also prove useful in conversations while moving, such as jogging with a friend, when the hearing aids automatically focus on speech coming from the wearer’s left or right side to better understand what the friend is saying.

Dynamic listening situations are about more than just hearing what’s happening. It’s about being able to hear while moving, speaking, and interacting with the world. With the myControlApp, users can make the most of their iPhone motion sensors and begin hearing in a more dynamic, immersive way.
