Control what you want to hear
The myControl App from Signia puts complete control of your new Signia hearing aids at your fingertips. Available for iOS and Android phones, the app offers advanced remote control options so you can change settings and personalize your hearing aids according to your individual preferences. In a series of three new blogposts, we introduce you to some of the key features – first, the Spatial Configurator.
Have you ever struggled to hear what your loved ones are saying at family gatherings? Or strained to understand an announcement or question at a busy railway station? You’re not alone, because such difficult hearing situations often prove too much for conventional hearing aids to cope with satisfactorily. But not with Signia.
Signia hearing aids replicate the natural way we localize sound even in challenging listening situations. It’s clinically proven: In noisy environments, you enjoy “better than normal hearing” * thanks to Signia hearing aids. And with the latest version of Signia’s myControl App, you have full control over what you want to hear at any time.
The app’s Spatial Configurator allows you to determine where you want to focus your hearing. This is known as directionality. For example, if in a restaurant you want to hear your conversation partner sitting opposite you rather than what the noisy people at the table next to you are saying, you can focus the hearing aids on the person in front of you.
When strolling through the park after dinner, you can open up the Spatial Configurator to capture sounds from all around you, like birdsong or the breeze blowing through the trees. This unrivaled spatial awareness works automatically in Signia hearing aids, yet with the MyControl App you can take manual control whenever you want to set the directionality exactly as you like it.
And this is only one of the many options that the myControl App puts at your fingertips. Look out for our next blogposts, in which we explain how the app uses smartphone motions sensors to enhance your hearing, and how you can track an important indicator of your hearing health.
* Two clinical studies have shown that Signia hearing aids provide better than normal hearing in certain demanding environments (University of Northern Colorado, 2014; Oldenburg Hörzentrum, 2013): Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT) in cocktail-party situations improved up to 2.9 dB for wearers with mild to moderate hearing loss using Signia Carat or Signia Pure hearing aids with narrow directionality, compared to people with normal hearing.
